Vicki Ellner receives Founder's Award
The Senior Umbrella Network of Brooklyn held its Annual Membership Breakfast on February 23, 2010. At the event, the SUN-B Board honored Founder and President, Vicki Ellner with a Founder's Award for her vision in bring together professionals from every field who serve the senior population in Brooklyn. The Board took the step of creating the Founder's Award as a way to honor Vicki's tireless efforts on behalf of the organization. World Awards, recognizing members who gave extraordinarily of their time and talents, were presented to SUN-B VP/Secretary Caryn Isaacs and members Debra Diamantos, Sr. Frances Picone and Rabbi Yeruchim Silber. Key Note Speaker Rita Cosby thanked the membership for all they do on behalf of seniors. She had the audience laughing and crying when she recalled how doctors, hospitals, home health attendants and eventually a nursing home eased her mother's illness and final days. She expressed how happy she was to be able to come home to Brooklyn to be able to spend that time with her Mother.

Rita Cosby is a special correspondent for the top-rated nationally syndicated show Inside Edition, and served as anchor and senior correspondent for MSNBC until 2007. She also hosted MSNBC's Rita Cosby: Live and Direct, which was the network's highest rated show in 2005. Prior to joining MSNBC, Rita hosted highly rated Fox News Channel primetime programs and has interviewed four U.S. Presidents, as well as more than a dozen world leaders. Her first book, Blonde Ambition, published Fall 2007, became an instant New York Times bestseller.
The food and ambiance at the Bay Ridge Manor were wonderful as usual, however we are aware that there was a problem with the parking. We apologize for any member who had to wait for valet service or had any other problem with the parking.
